Collection accounts are past due to delinquent accounts that have been sold or transferd to a collection agency or collection department. The collection company has typically paid for the right to collect on the account from the original creditor. In other word they bought up the debt at a discount in the hopes of collecting on a larger amount from their newly acquired account. Collection agencies are typically easy to deal with because they are looking to recoup some of the money on the original debt. Debt settlement can negotiate with collection agencies and settle your debts for less then what you owe.
